Taking advantage of the laxity of his supervisor in handing him keys to an iron trunk containing cash meant for IndusInd Bank, a brazen 21-year-old cash custodian allegedly fled with Rs 50 lakh in Ulsoor police limits.
The accused is Mahesh, an employee of Brinks Arya India Private Limited, a cash distribution company. The incident is said to have occurred around 11.30 am on Wednesday, when Mahesh and three others were ferrying a large amount of cash from Anepalya, Adugodi to the bank on MG Road in a Tata Sumo. The custodian and supervisor Manjunath reportedly gave Mahesh the keys to the trunk and went inside the bank to inform officials that they had arrived. This was the crucial mistake he made, police said. Vehicle driver Prabhu, and security guard Muthanna seated in the front of the vehicle did not suspect a thing when they heard noises that Mahesh made while unlocking the trunk with the key Manjunath had given him.
